The Ring Austin
MY ROLE:
Art Direction / Web & UI/UX Design / Illustration
The Ring Austin is an independent jewelry store that needed a website as distinctive as its hometown. The brand wanted a highly unique digital experience that celebrates Austin, Texas and embraces the city’s “Keep Austin Weird” spirit while still feeling welcoming and refined. I designed a bold, unconventional website that blends personality with polish, showcases the store’s curated jewelry selection, and reflects the fun, transparent, and community-driven experience customers find in the showroom.
Design Strategy
The design strategy focused on creating a homepage experience that immediately communicates The Ring Austin’s personality while helping users navigate engagement ring styles with ease. To do this, I designed an animated homepage hero that cycles through three core engagement ring personas — Classic, Vintage, and Trendy — allowing visitors to quickly identify with a style that feels right for them.
Each persona was paired with custom illustrations of Austin landmarks, reinforcing the brand’s deep local roots. These illustrations added a playful, unexpected layer to the browsing experience while giving each ring category a distinct visual personality.
The rest of the homepage and interior pages carry this concept through with intuitive navigation, engaging layouts, and subtle Austin-inspired design details that keep the experience playful, clear, and easy to navigate.
